Rewind. Luxembourg City.
This one is a pretty recent trip, for a change. :) We spent Easter weekend in Luxembourg City and it’s every bit as pretty as it looks. Really. It only took a roughly three-hour train ride from Halle, and once you enter the Ardennes it’s pure aesthetic joy. There is one thing though: to me, the country is like a mixture of France, Germany and Belgium. Funny that I would say so, but the feeling I had here was being in a pretty place but everything was blank, without taste or local flavour. For example, try as I may, I couldn’t manage to find any kind of food that was a local speciality. I asked a lot of people there, and nobody could show me to a place where I could have something exclusively local. Please don’t take me wrong, I loved this trip very much, but Luxembourg didn’t make a deep impression on me. :( I would really like to visit the rest of the country, as I’ve only seen the capital. I am in no position to make judgements here, and that’s not my intention. I’m only trying to explain my experience. It’s not easy though.
The city itself is so lovely and tiny! We spent two days there and visited practically every museum and open air location, and we still had time to simply wander around – my all-time favourite touristic programme. The thing is the city centre being so small that wherever you look there is something awesome to look at. My favourite part of course was Le Chemin de la Corniche (featured image), which was truly breath-taking, and right after it the small church in the Petrusse, built practically into the mountain. Unfortunately, I can’t find its name back. And the photos of it either… Typical of me.
